Overview
Set in 1947 Cairo. Saddika, a washerwoman in her forties, lives with her paralysed husband and grandson Hassan, and gets her happiness through the cinema. Her grandson brings home Okka, a Gene Kelly fan who begins to court her. Hassan is striken with cholera, and Saddika and Okka smuggle him onto a boat, and wait for the 6th day, when the patient either dies or recovers
