Overview
The story takes place in Nagasaki in the late 1920's. After being seriously injured during a fight with a fellow gang member, a heartless gangster named Junzo seeks refuge in an church which has an attached orphanage. He soon recovers and as he spends time with the preists and children who treat who kindly, he gradually reforms himself and gains their trust. When a member of his gang finds him, however, Junzo is ordered to return to the gang against his will. At first he refuses, but not wanting to cause trouble for the preists, he retursn to the gang and encounters a new set of troubles
